Dr Rajan Sanker

Rajan Sankar

Chief Adviser & Mentor – Poshan Innovation Platform

Dr Rajan Sankar is a physician with over 4 decades of experience in Internal Medicine. From serving in the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services, to working extensively with governments in South Asia to direct several large-scale health programs, he has been among the most active voices for the cause of nutrition in India.
Over the last 5 years, he has worked as the Director of Nutrition at the Tata Trusts and is the founder of The India Nutrition Initiative (TINI). Dr. Rajan has played an active role in establishing the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) in India and Bangladesh and has also served as a Nutrition Specialist with the UNICEF India Country Office.

A consultant for healthcare innovations, he has worked with over 100 startups in 9 years. He recently led the healthcare sector at Villgro Innovations Foundation. Previously, he has worked with the Atal Incubation Centre at NMIMS, the National Innovation Foundation, and set up the DST-supported technology business incubator at VJTI Mumbai. With a bachelor’s in microbiology and a master’s in human genetics, he has published research articles in peer-reviewed journals with over 1200 citations.

A strong foundation and educational background in Women and Gender Studies has put Priya at the forefront of gender justice in public spaces, which is the inspiration behind Durga, a citizen sector organization based out of Bangalore. Over the years, she has anchored Gender Justice and Disability Rights at the Azim Premji Foundation.
